After spending years helping hundreds of students get ahead in their careers, the vocational teacher is a finalist in the VET Teacher of the Year Award.

The 2013 NSW Training Awards are run by the NSW Department of Education and Communities (DEC).

The awards recognise the hard work and achievements of students, trainers/teachers in the vocational education and training sector.

Ms Bueno teaches business and administration, legal services and accounting at the Australian Careers Business College in Liverpool.

She has 20 years of experience in teaching vocational training courses.

She said she was passionate about helping her students reach their potential by passing on her knowledge and expertise.

“It has always been my belief that by giving our students our full knowledge and experience, we are guiding them into their future,” she said.

“I motivate my students and encourage them to enter a rewarding career.

“I teach them the types of skills that will make them employable in many types of different organisations.

“Through leadership and mentoring we [teachers] play a pivotal role in our students’ learning.”
